Nebraska Crossroads brings in yet another competitive regional grant, this time to support the Dream Warriors Experience, an immersive, multi-media art exhibition coming to life in late 2026.

Another High-Profile Grant for Crossroads

We are delighted to announce that the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival has received one of fourteen Artistic Innovations Grants awarded by the Mid-America Arts Alliance, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival was one of only two Nebraska-based recipients selected in this highly competitive regional program.

The grant will support The Dream Warriors Experience, a multimedia exhibition developed from music written and recorded during the festival by Dream Warriors, a collective of Indigenous hip-hop and spoken word artists. The exhibition brings together original music with visual artwork by Ponca/Lakota and Omaha artist Sarah Rowe, documentary footage by filmmaker Brian Seifferlein, and fluid, animated, AI-driven digital visualizations by University of Nebraska–Lincoln Professor of Digital Arts Jinku Kim. The exhibition is tentatively scheduled to open at the Museum of Nebraska Art in late 2026, pending final confirmation from the Museum.

Vibrant Indigenous Storytelling

This project reflects the festival’s unique ability to bring together artists across disciplines and cultural backgrounds, catalyzing innovative and socially relevant work for the community. The Dream Warriors Experience began with an exploratory workshop during the 2024 Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival and will expand beyond the exhibition to include a commercial album release and a touring staged performance.

Dream Warriors member Mic Jordan (Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa) reflected in a recent interview that simply having space to create—and a seat at the table—has been transformative. Fellow Dream Warriors artist Tall Paul (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe) added, “A lot of Natives would find their voice in this genre, hip-hop, because we are misunderstood.”The music emphasizes stewardship, personal and collective responsibility, and persistence in the face of adversity.

Combined with Rowe’s rich visual storytelling, the exhibition creates an immersive experience that invites audiences into a world that is colorful, grounded, and deeply human—offering a refreshing antidote to the polarized and digitally fragmented world we navigate today.
