La Folia Global

July 29, 2026 7:30 pm

Lincoln

La Folia Global is a transcontinental musical journey that brings together Baroque repertoire and instruments with world music traditions whose roots intersect in the cultural crossroads of Renaissance Venice. At its center is Valeri Tolstov’s brilliant reimagining of Vivaldi’s La Folia, moving seamlessly between Armenian folk music, Hindustani classical raga, and Vivaldi’s original score.

Conceived at the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival, this project reflects the deep historical connections between these traditions and transforms them into something vivid, fresh, and deeply alive. Performed by master musicians from across genres and traditions, La Folia Global offers a listening experience that is at once grounded in history and full of discovery.
