Women’s Bandura Ensemble of North America

The Women’s Bandura Ensemble of North America (Ukrainian: Ансамбль Бандуристок Північної Америки) is a twenty-five-member bandura and vocal collective, driven by their passion for the bandura and the Ukrainian musical tradition, maintaining important cultural motifs while expanding the instrument’s horizons. The WBE works not only to preserve the bandura tradition, but to update it, exploring the instrument’s rich artistic possibilities – from the Baroque to contemporary, to ancient melodies. The ensemble is composed of women from nine cities in North America, including Toronto, New York, and Chicago.
