Shelley Armer

Viola

Violist Shelley Armer is an active performer and educator. She is passionate about performing the full spectrum of Classical music styles, from historically-informed early Baroque to newly commissioned contemporary works. A collaborator at heart, Shelley thrives musically in chamber and orchestral settings. Outside of engagements as a guest artist, Shelley has appeared regularly as a substitute violist for the Kansas City Symphony.

Shelley is currently completing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Viola at the University of Colorado Boulder, studying with Professor Erika Eckert, and acting as a Teaching Assistant to the viola studio and chamber music program under the direction of Dr. Meta Weisse. She earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and her master’s from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

A passionate educator and advocate for the arts, Shelley maintains a private studio in Overland Park, Kansas, and frequently appears as an adjudicator, clinician and coach in the greater Kansas City area.
