Double bassist Sam Beck-Johnson, originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, began playing at the age of seven. His professional career started at 15 playing with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra. Sam earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Music from the Royal College of Music in London, where he stayed on to pursue an Artist Diploma.
Sam has performed internationally with ensembles across the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Denmark, and New Zealand, and was awarded principal positions with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre de Cannes. He has also participated in numerous chamber music festivals and educational outreach programs. He currently serves as 2nd Solo Bass with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in Denmark. In his spare time, Sam enjoys cycling, climbing, camping and cooking.
